Nintendogs + Cats REVIEW

Alright, here is my review for Nintendogs + Cats. This is the 2nd in a pet simulator series made by Nintendo where you take care of dogs, and for the first time, cats. You can't do much with your cat, but you can walk your dog, feed it, bathe it, give it toys, dress it up, enter it in competitions, and more. Now if this sounds really childish, it's not. It is marketed towards children, yes, but it's also very fun and has a little bit of strategy to it. There's just one problem. Not much has changed since the first game. Of the new things, there is a completely revamped walked system. but honestly I liked the original better. The Agility Trial has been replaced with Lure Coursing, which at first I hated, but now I've grown to love it. Nintendogs is still a very fun game, but you really won't miss a lot if you already have the original. I do recommend it, but only if you haven't played the first or are just itching for more dogs. But, this review isn't over yet. I still have a lot more to talk about. If you liked collecting all the items in the first game, you'll love this one. I really liked the item collecting in this one because there's so much to collect! It seems endless. Also, the cats. While they do look cool and cute, they're just there, and they don't do much. There also should be more kinds. Furthermore, this game is way too easy. I mean, it never ends, but still collecting money is a lot easier than it was in the first. There's a gold bar on sale for $9,999 at one of the new BARC stores, and trust me, if you are good at the competitions (and you probably will be), you'll earn the money for it in no time. However, there is some challenge to collect all the items, as you have to find supplies in gift boxes whenever you go on a walk to get some items, and trust me, a lot of them are HARD to find. Miis are a new addition, and while you don't use your own except for your Journal card for StreetPass, Nintendo made ones are the owners of the dogs out walking in this one. It's kind of cool. Oh yeah, StreetPass and SpotPass. Well, with StreetPass, you exchange information with other owners, even if the cartridge isn't in the 3DS, and get to play with their dogs, and possibly get a gift! It's really cool and evolved from Bark Mode on the DS, which was very limited, and I love it. SpotPass is like StreetPass, except you get Miis and dogs from Nintendo, so far, and I have had the game since launch, so I think this is all they have made so far, I have linked up with 2 U.S. Presidents Teddy Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, and their dogs Pete and Feller. It's funny to see this, but they also have presents and you see them in walks with MORE presents so it's pretty awesome too. I hope Nintendo continues to support Nintendogs + Cats like this. Lastly, the graphics. They are AMAZING! They really show off the 3D capabilities of the 3DS. Things don't pop out that much, but you can see so much depth, it's really amazing! They look great without 3D too, mostly everything is rendered nice and not blurry. This game will last a while, I got the original Nintendogs in 2005 and was STILL playing it right before Nintendogs + Cats came out! It was probably my longest lasting original DS game, and I forsee that happening here too. It's still great, even if it is just a little update from the original. The lasting appeal is great though, especially if Nintendo continues to support SpotPass in this game.
